A horizontal band of ochre floats above a wash of pale cerulean. Robinson's Wrap, 1974, unfolds like a horizon seen through rain-streaked glass.
Frankenthaler poured thinned acrylic directly onto unprimed canvas, letting the pigment bleed into soft-edged rectangles and irregular pools. The ochre stripe holds its ground, while the cerulean beneath diffuses into faint lavender at the edges. No brushwork is visible, only the slow spread of color.
Hang it where morning light can slide across the surface—above a low credenza or between two windows in a quiet study.
