About this work
Roses Before the Blue Curtain shows a small bunch of roses set against a blue cloth curtain. Pierre-Auguste Renoir paints the petals with short separate brush strokes. The flowers sit in pale pink and white tones, and the cloth hangs in a plain blue band behind them.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The frame comes in a white finish, and it holds the roses against the blue cloth without crowding them. The white edge keeps the picture clear on the wall. You notice the separate paint strokes first, then the frame edge later.
It fits a bedroom wall above a plain wooden chair. From the doorway you see the blue cloth, and the pink petals stand out from that distance. Up close you see the broken colour patches in the leaves.
