About this work
Rossano Calabria February 1931 1931 presents a measured study of a southern Italian coastline, built from steady black lines on a pale sheet. The eye enters at the shoreline and moves along the curve of the coast, with the rest of the page left open. The drawing uses the graphic print practice MC Escher developed for his architectural studies.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black and gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. A black frame edge sits hard against the line work and keeps the pale ground from spreading.
It works on a hallway wall where the light stays indirect. From the landing you see the long shoreline line first, and near the frame you notice the short side strokes along the coast.
