Rubiyat — Fine Art

Rubiyat shows broad colour washes laid across the sheet with bands that shift in tone. The name points to a verse book about time and passing.

Sam Gilliam often works with draped canvas and loose paint, so the marks here feel open and unforced. You see the shape of each band and the way one fades into the next.

This fine art print sits on a wall where the light is even, not right by a lamp. A pale frame keeps the broad tones calm, and the same wall can hold a shelf below. From the doorway you read the big colour shifts first, then the softer band near the middle.
