About this work
Santa Severina Calabria February 1931 1931 shows a southern Italian town drawn in measured black lines on a pale ground. Buildings and roofs sit along a hillside, with narrow streets running between them. The lines stay close together so the view reads as a quiet study of place.
This fine art print comes set in a frame with a back panel, so the drawing stays flat and the edges stay clean. The pale sheet lets the black lines hold their own space without a shine under a lamp.
In a narrow hallway the rows of windows and roof lines pull the eye along the passage. From the far end you see the hillside stack up, and near the frame you notice the small joins between houses.
