Seascape — Fine Art

Seascape by Childe Hassam shows the sea and sky with broad painted strokes. Cool blue and grey tones spread across the paper. The horizon line divides the scene.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Short brush marks give the surface a quick rhythm. The artist worked outdoors a lot, and that habit shows in the loose handling. The print sits on a wall at a normal height where the room light falls on it. The matte paper keeps the colours from shining under a lamp.

A pale frame suits a dark wall, and a dark frame suits a pale one. It works well in a hallway near the front door. From the hall you see the wide sky first. Up close you notice the small painted marks.
