Seneca — Fine Art

Seneca - 1979 by Albert Irvin shows a loose field of marks and patches of paint on the sheet. The shapes drift and overlap without a clear outline. From across the room the image reads as a quiet mix of tones. Up close the separate strokes and thin washes become visible.

The fine art frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. A white frame keeps the edge of the image clear against the surrounding wall. A black frame gives the picture a steady line that settles the loose marks.

It works well on the stairwell landing wall near the top step. From the lower landing you notice the broad patches first, then the smaller strokes as you walk up. Near the newel post the marks gather and the tone changes.
