Shapes Group - 1987 by Robert Goodnough shows a painted field of broad colour patches with thin drawn lines across the surface. The rectangles sit separate from the colour, side by side across the paper.

The work uses a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte paper keeps the painted colours from shining under a lamp.

The frame holds the sheet flat and the back panel keeps dust out. You can see the thin drawn lines when you look at the piece from a few feet away. It works above a dining table, where the broad colour patches catch the evening light and the drawn lines stay quiet.
