Silhouette — Fine Art

The title Silhouette by Man Ray holds a dark shape cut out against a lighter plain ground. The outline looks like a figure or object seen from the side. The edges stay sharp and the inner area is solid.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. A light frame sits on the wall so the dark shape stays the main thing. The paper stays matte, so the grey tones read soft and the edge of the shape does not shine back at you. You see the cut line first, then the plain field behind it.

In a narrow hallway near the stairs, you notice the solid outline before anything else. The room stays busy, yet the dark form stays still. At night the lamp throws a soft line across the shape and the plain ground shows through.
