About this work
A spiral of green violet blue and gold turns through the centre of the picture and breaks into smaller bands. Spiral Development in Green Violet Blue Gold 1951 by Victor Pasmore reads as a painted study of a moving line. From the doorway the bright band pulls the eye first.
Up near the print the gold splits into thin strokes against the cooler wash. The fine art print shows the same colour shifts you would see in the original work.
The black option makes the blue bands stand out more, while the wood finish sits close to the green tones. You notice the line from the hall when you walk past. The moving band draws your eye along the wall before you stop at the doorway.
