Spirit in the Sky

Spirit in the Sky - 1969 shows layered bands of colour laid over a quiet ground. The painted field shifts from one tone to the next across the sheet. Ronnie Landfield built this kind of colour field painting with repeated passes of brushwork.

The fine art print sits on a matte sheet, so the lighter tones stay even when a lamp shines on it. A light frame over a darker painted ground keeps the bands clear from where you stand. The paper holds the marks without a shine.
