Spots — Fine Art

Spots - 1967 shows a series of round marks spread across the sheet. Forrest Bess painted these forms with oil on board, a practice tied to the bayou symbolism and abstract expressionist painting of his time. The marks vary in tone and sit apart from one another.

The fine art print sits on a light finished frame. A dark frame suits a pale wall, while a wood finish sits well beside wooden furniture. The matte paper keeps the soft grey spots without shine under a lamp.

It hangs on the kitchen wall, high enough to clear the worktop. From the doorway the round shapes read first, and from the table you notice the small shifts in tone between each spot.
