About this work
Square Tubes [Series D] - 1967 presents a set of rectangular forms arranged in a measured grid. Charlotte Posenenske built this kind of work to carry its own rules without extra decoration. The shapes follow a simple plan and leave room for the eye to move across them.
The fine art frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black, and the chosen edge sits flat against the picture. A black frame gives the grid a firm outline, while a white one lets the forms stay open. The frame adds a clear line where the image ends.
On a narrow hallway wall near the stair, the tubes read as a row of signals down the passage. From the landing you notice the regular rhythm of the shapes, and each one stays separate as you walk past.
