About this work
A thistle bloom rises from a plain ground with a few small marks around the stem. Still Life with Thistle Bloom 1919 shows a single plant form set against a quiet field. Paul Klee worked with simple drawn shapes during the bauhaus period.
The print sits on a matte surface so the drawn marks stay even and the colours do not shine. The frame edge holds the picture apart from the wall and keeps the thistle form clear. You get a fine art print with a steady border that suits this bauhaus drawing.
It fits a study wall above a desk. From the chair you notice the tall bloom and the small marks first, then the plain field behind it. The light from the desk lamp falls on the surface and leaves the stem plain.
