Study for Layered 1940

The work Study for Layered 1940 sets thin light bands across a pale ground. The marks read like stacked layers seen from the side.

Josef Albers often built these studies from careful colour tests. This fine art print keeps that plain layered look on smooth paper.

The finish is matte so the soft tones stay quiet under indoor light. A light frame on a dark wall makes the pale bands stand out. Hang it on a bedroom wall near a low lamp, and the layered bands read as quiet steps across the wall.
