About this work
Summer Houses 1919 by Paul Klee shows a row of small houses with flat roofs sitting on a plain ground. The houses are painted in pale blues and warm yellows, with thin black lines running along the roofs and walls.
This belongs to the Bauhaus period, when Paul Klee was working with simple shapes and measured colour blocks. The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No frame is needed.
You can hang it as a fine art print without buying anything else. It works well on a kitchen wall above the counter. From the table you see the small roof lines and the pale colour patches, and the room feels steady.
