Sunshine After Rain - 1987 opens with thin washes of pale yellow and blue laid across the sheet. The paint soaks into the surface and the shapes stay soft at the sides. Helen Frankenthaler left the paper bare in places so the stain sits deeper in the middle.

The fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte paper keeps the pale washes steady and stops shine under a lamp.

It suits a kitchen wall above the cooktop. From the table you see the thin colour bands, and on the far side of the room the pale sheet reads as a quiet light.
