About this work
The 15 Great Dog Pisses of Paris - 1989 lays out a row of quick marks in ink and wash on a thin ground. Brett Whiteley built the sheet from loose gestures that read like a fast walk through the city. The work sits inside his practice of drawing from urban motion without a fixed scene.
The picture arrives as a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper stays matte, so the ink tones stay flat and the light areas do not gleam. You can use it ready to hang when the frame is assembled.
On the landing wall above the top step, the marks line up across the view. From the bottom tread you see the whole row, and from the turn you notice the small gaps between each line.
