The Arc Valley — Fine Art

The Arc Valley by Paul Cézanne shows a wide stretch of countryside with steep slopes dropping toward a low path. The land is built from separate colour patches rather than blended paint.

This fine art piece is printed on paper and comes with a frame in white, wood, dark wood or black. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. With a white frame the pale ground tones stay open, and with a dark wood frame the heavier slopes gain a firm border.

It works on the wall of a stairwell where the steps carry the eye upward past the valley shapes. From the landing you read the broad slopes first, then the small colour changes in the trees.
