The Bordeaux Bottle 1915

A wine bottle appears against a divided painted ground in The Bordeaux Bottle 1915. Grey and brown planes meet pale cream areas, and the outlines keep each shape separate. The scene holds a single bottle, handled in the synthetic cubism manner.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. Juan Gris worked in this style across his still lifes. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge. That edge keeps the soft grey tones from fading into the surrounding surface.
