About this work
The Canoes by Gustave Caillebotte (1878)
Two canoes rest on the bank of the Yerres River. This is The Canoes, a tranquil scene by Gustave Caillebotte, capturing a moment of stillness before an adventure.
The composition is balanced, with the canoes positioned centrally, drawing the eye. The water reflects the muted blues and greens of the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of calm. The brushstrokes are precise, rendering the texture of the canoes and the gentle ripples in the water with equal care.
This poster suits a room with natural light, where the subtle colors can be appreciated. It fits well in a study or a quiet corner, adding a touch of contemplative serenity.
