The Cloud 1921 — Fine Art

The Cloud 1921 shows a soft shape drifting over a calm ground. Thin drawn lines and a few flat colour planes build the image. The marks sit light on the paper and leave open space around them. Juan Gris worked in this clear outlined style across many still lifes and compositions.

This fine art print sits in a frame with a back panel. The paper is matte, so the pale shapes stay soft and the light lines do not shine under a lamp. You see the drawn edges plainly when you stand near the frame.

In a narrow hallway above the stairs, the cloud shape reads from the first step. The soft grey tones settle against the painted wood paneling, and the thin outlines stay clear without pulling the eye.
