The Galettes — Fine Art

The Galettes by Claude Monet places a table scene at the centre of a softly lit interior. Round flat cakes sit on plates, with hands reaching in from different sides. The scene rests in warm browns and light yellows, built up in short loose strokes.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. A white frame gives the picture a clean edge against these warm tones, so the painted edges do not feel cut off. A wood finish brings the grain of the frame to match the earthy table colours. The dark wood frame deepens the shadows around the plates.

It hangs in a dining room above a wooden sideboard. From the seat at the table you see the round forms first, then the small brush marks across each plate when you sit down to eat.
