About this work
The Goblet 1927 shows a glass cup standing on a table, built from flat colour planes and thin drawn lines. A clear outline carries the rim and base, while a few blocks of colour sit on the surface. Juan Gris used this way of painting to break a simple object into parts.
The picture keeps the goblet steady on the page. A metal hanger on the back lets this fine art piece go straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need a separate frame.
The matte paper suits the soft outlined shapes, so the lines stay clear under a lamp. It works on a hallway wall near the front door. From the entry you notice the cup outline first, and the thin drawn edges later.
