About this work
The Great Mystery II - 1960 shows thick painted bars of colour set in a straight grid across the sheet. Yellow, red and blue blocks sit next to each other in a measured pattern. Alfred Jensen built the picture with hard edges and a steady layout.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need a separate frame. The matte paper keeps the painted colour blocks even and the fine art surface holds the grid lines without shine.
It sits on the wall in a dining room where the afternoon sun moves across the table. You notice the long colour bars first, then the small gaps between them as you pass by when clearing plates.
