The Great Wall I

The Great Wall I - 1986 shows long ink ribbons drawn over a watercolour wash. Dark ink runs along the top while the wash below shifts from pale yellow to soft blue.

Wu Guanzhong keeps the bands thin and the ground loose. The picture stays quiet because the colour sits close to the paper. A fine art print with a matte surface holds those faint tones without glare.

The paper is smooth enough that the ink edges stay soft when you stand near it. Hang this print on a pale wall in a bedroom at a height you can see without stepping back. Morning light on the left side makes the blue wash look a little deeper.
