The Magnificent — Fine Art

The Magnificent shows a field of layered marks built up in paint, with crossing lines and scattered forms set against a muted ground. Richard Pousette-Dart worked in the abstract expressionist tradition, building surfaces through repeated gestures and thin layers.

The fine art print sits in a white frame that gives the image a clean edge on the wall. The white finish keeps the painted marks from blending into the surround, so the darker lines stay sharp. The frame edge sits flat against the picture and keeps the surface open.

In a dining room, the white frame catches the light from the side window and the layered marks stay readable at a normal distance. The darker lines hold their shape when you stand near the table, and the lighter ground fades a little toward the far corner.
