The Station of the Cross - Thirteenth station sets a narrow vertical band against a large field of tone. The eye enters at the band and rests there. The rest of the picture stays open and quiet. Barnett Newman worked with broad colour fields and a single vertical mark.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy.

It works on the wall at the top of the stairs, where the light from the hall hits the surface in the afternoon. From the landing you see the vertical shape first, and the open field stays steady as you walk past.
