About this work
A painted tree stands on a plain field in the picture called The Tree of Knowledge 1929. The shapes sit apart and the sky stays flat. It follows the surrealist painting practice of Rene Magritte, where ordinary objects appear in odd relations. The leaves and branches sit on a quiet field.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper is matte, so the painted greens and greys stay soft and the surface does not shine under a lamp. The frame holds the image flat and the back panel keeps it secure. You can leave it assembled.
It works on a dining room wall near a plain table. From the table you see the tree and the flat field. Up close you notice the soft edges of the painted leaves.
