About this work
The Vines in Saint Clair 1912 moves over growing vines with short paint strokes and small touches of colour. The artist worked in a pointillist painting practice, placing tiny marks side by side to build the whole picture. The vines climb and turn, and the leaves hold mixed greens against a soft ground.
This fine art print uses a matte surface so the dots stay separate and the greens do not flatten. You can match the frame to the room, a pale frame on a dark wall or a dark frame on a pale wall. A wood frame sits well beside wooden furniture.
In the hallway, the lines of vines lead the eye down the passage. On the landing, the small marks show when you pause at the turn. Morning light from the window softens the greens on the wall.
