The White Wave

The White Wave shows a single curved line of water cutting across a plain field. Eyvind Earle paints the wave with a hard outline and a few flat tones. The water moves from a thin crest down to a still base.

The fine art frame finishes the piece with a clean border. The white frame sits against the flat tones and gives the water line a plain edge. You see the wave first, then the frame around it.

It fits above a bed where the morning light hits the side of the room. From the doorway the curve reads clear, and close up you notice the even fill between the outline and the flat tones.
