Townscape Pl 1970 0 shows buildings pressed into a grey ground with soft edges. The marks run in thin horizontal lines and a few sharper verticals that cut across the sheet.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. Gerhard Richter built this kind of picture by working from a photograph and letting the paint drift. The metal hanger on the back takes the sheet straight onto a nail or screw, so the blurred buildings stay loose against the wall.

A narrow hallway wall with one overhead bulb lets the pale grey tones hold their own space. From the far end you see the layered tones before the line work.
