About this work
The word trademark runs across a plain sheet in Trademark Study 5 1962. Edward Ruscha painted the letters in a single pass, with a soft band of tone under the text. You read the wording from the other side of the room, then notice the brush marks near the letters.
This fine art print has a metal hanger on the back that fits on a nail or screw. It goes up on the wall without a separate frame. The matte surface keeps the lettering in place so you can read the words without glare.
On a hallway wall the type reads as a single band from the far end. From the stairs you see the painted letters, and the tone band stays even under the ceiling light.
