About this work
Transparent Horizon 1975 gathers stacked wooden shapes into a single flat field of painted forms. Louise Nevelson built her reliefs from found pieces and painted them in deep tones. The composition sits like a low horizon across the sheet. You see the edges of each box catching the light.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The print sits on matte paper so the dark tones stay soft and do not glare under a lamp. A light frame can sit on a dark wall, or a wood frame can follow nearby wooden furniture.
It works on a landing corridor wall where you pass it every day. From the stair you see the broad dark shapes, and from the landing you notice the smaller cut edges. The room stays quiet behind it.
