About this work
Untitled 1935 shows a painted form held off the sheet by a thin black line. The line cuts through open space and the shape sits to one side. Alexander Calder draws from his mobile and stabile practice, where metal and wire stand apart from the ground.
This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The matte surface holds the black line flat so the painted tone stays even under room light.
On a hallway wall near the stairs, the thin line reads first from the landing. The painted shape comes later as you walk past, and the frame edge keeps the whole sheet contained.
