About this work
Untitled - 1963 shows a broad sweep of paint laid down fast with a wide brush, the movement leaving a rough edge where the bristles drag.
Nicholas Krushenick worked in a hard edge style, painting flat colour blocks that meet at sharp borders. The print is a fine art reproduction on matte paper, so the flat colour reads without shine.
A dark frame on a pale wall lets the painted edge stand clear. It suits a hallway above a narrow bench, where you pass it daily and notice the fast stroke each time.
