About this work
Untitled - 1966 shows an abstract painting made with paint applied in broad strokes on a plain ground. The image follows the practice of Jiro Yoshihara, who worked in acrylic paint and simple marks.
The picture holds soft colour areas and a few lines that move across the sheet. A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel keeps these tones steady and free of gloss.
The paper stays matte so the paint looks like a painted surface rather than a shiny copy. It hangs well on a dining room wall above a wooden sideboard. From the table you see the soft colour blocks, and from the doorway you notice the quiet lines crossing the field.
