About this work
Untitled 1974 shows a single broad stroke laid across a plain ground. The mark begins with firm pressure and thins out as it moves. A few broken edges remain where the tool lifted. Taro Yamamoto worked with this kind of direct gesture in his painting practice.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. The matte surface keeps the tone of the stroke soft and stops a shine under a lamp.
In a stairwell with low light the stroke comes into view from the first step. The plain ground holds the shape without pulling attention away. From the landing you see the whole mark and the small breaks where it thins.
