About this work
Untitled - 1979 by Henri Michaux holds a pale field with loose ink lines that drift across the sheet. The marks move in thin gestures, with gaps between them. Some strokes curve, others break off and start again. The work feels like a steady handwriting that never settles into words.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The print uses a matte paper that keeps the grey ink from shining. A light frame sits on a dark wall, or a dark frame goes on a pale wall, so the frame follows the room.
In a kitchen, the sheet hangs on the wall near the table. From the doorway you see the pale band with its loose lines. Standing closer you notice the small breaks between the strokes. The paper stays quiet under the overhead light.
