A field of deep cobalt blue meets a single vertical white line. Newman’s *Untitled* is all edge and expanse. The white band, barely wider than a brushstroke, divides the canvas without symmetry. Its edges waver slightly, catching light differently along each side. The blue isn’t uniform; faint horizontal brushstrokes create a subtle texture, like water under a clear sky. Hang it above a low credenza where the blue can stretch across an entire wall without interruption.
