About this work
Untitled from Droguinhas - 1966 shows soft marks laid across a pale surface. The paper is thin and the lines look pressed into it. You can see the lighter parts where the pigment thins out. Mira Schendel worked on rice paper for many years. The fine art print uses the same matte paper so the greys stay low and the texture holds still.
Hang it on a pale wall near a doorway. The light frame lets the page feel open without pulling the eye away from the lines.
It works in a hallway where people pass without stopping. From there you see the whole page. Up close the small marks show how the ink was pressed through the paper.
