About this work
The print shows a single tool shape drawn with heavy pencil lines. Jim Dine worked on the Ten Winter Tools series with this kind of drawn object. The mark sits plainly on the paper and the lines stay direct. You see the tool outline first, then the darker strokes around the edge.
The fine art print is matte and the paper takes the grey lines without shine. A light frame on a dark wall lets the drawn tool stand apart, and a wood frame beside wooden furniture keeps the object close to the room.
The picture sits on a hallway wall near the coat hooks. From the front you see the tool shape plainly, and from the side the pencil lines catch the dim light from the ceiling. The object shape keeps its place near the door.
