About this work
Untitled From the Atelier Project 1986 by Lee Bontecou shows marks that circle inward toward a dark opening on a lighter ground. The drawing feels built from rough pencil and a few pressed lines, with shapes that look cut and lifted. The image stays quiet and a little worn.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. White keeps the soft greys open, wood warms the rough edges, dark wood sits close to the darker marks, and black gives the picture a firm line on the wall.
In a narrow bedroom corridor, the darker centre pulls the eye along the short walk. From the bed you notice the pencilled edges, and the frame edge holds the image flat against the plaster.
