Untitled I - 1974 shows large colour fields of red and yellow pressed up against black and white shapes. The surface carries rough edges and thin lines between the bands. A few pencil marks sit on the pale ground. The painting follows the wide abstract colour work of John Hoyland.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame finish can match the wall behind it. A light frame on a dark wall lets the red field stay forward, while a dark frame on a pale wall keeps the black shapes in view.

It hangs in a kitchen above the sink, low enough that you see the thin pencil marks from the counter. The yellow field stays steady against the white tiles, and the black edge cuts a hard line across the pale wall.
