About this work
Untitled Mp 1577 1977 shows a thin ink line that travels across the page without a steady path. The mark bends and lifts, leaving a narrow trail of black on a pale ground. Henri Michaux often used this kind of quick, searching stroke in his drawings. The line reads like a small movement caught on paper.
This fine art print sits inside a frame with a clear edge. The white finish keeps the line away from the wall and lets the narrow black mark stay sharp. You see the drawing first, then the frame when you step nearer.
On a bedroom wall near the bed, the line turns with the light in the morning. From the doorway the black stroke shows against the pale paper. Up close the eye follows the slight changes in the ink.
