Untitled Toquinho

Untitled Toquinho - 1970 shows a pale ground with small circles and short strokes in grey and brown. Mira Schendel worked with paper and thread, and the marks here sit lightly on the surface.

The colours stay muted against each other so no single spot pulls the eye first. The print uses a matte fine art paper so the grey tones stay soft under a lamp and there is no shine in the corner.

It hangs on a hallway wall near the front door where you notice the small round marks from the landing and the pale ground keeps the space calm. You see the thin strokes best when you stop at the coat rack.
