About this work
Venice 1948 shows a water city built from quick lines and soft washes. Enrico Prampolini worked in the Futurist movement and often used bold marks to suggest motion. The picture keeps its shapes loose so the buildings seem to shift as you look. The paper is matte and the black frame gives the image a clean border on the wall.
The print is a fine art reproduction on matte paper. The white frame edge sits close to the drawn lines and keeps the water tones from spilling out. That plain border helps the eye stay on the boats and the canal shapes.
On the kitchen wall near the sink the blue washes read as water at a distance. Up close the pencil lines show the roof lines and the narrow streets behind them.
