View - 1979 opens on a broad painted field with hand strokes pressing across the surface. The palette leans toward warm reds and deep earth tones, with sharper marks cutting through the ground. John Hoyland built his work from layered paint and quick gestures.

The fine art print goes straight onto a nail. The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. A black frame gives the edge of View - 1979 a sharp line that holds the painted field together.

In a dining room on a side wall, you notice the darker strokes first, then the lighter patches near the lamp. The picture stays settled on its own.
