Village behind Trees puts a cluster of trunks and rooflines in front of a soft wooded background. Paul Cézanne builds the scene from separate colour patches laid beside one another.

The fine art frame follows the room, so a light frame sits on a dark wall or a wood frame goes beside wooden furniture. The matte surface keeps the green patches soft and stops a shine under a lamp, which helps the separate colour patches read as one quiet village scene.
