About this work
When the Fog Rolls In shows a landscape under grey air. Thin trees stand in rows against a soft background. The picture uses flat shapes and clean outlines to show depth without detail. Eyvind Earle often drew forests and hills in this way, with simple forms that step back into the distance.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The paper is matte, so the muted tones stay even and there is no glare from a ceiling light. A light frame keeps the grey air from feeling heavy on a dark wall.
It fits on a bedroom wall above a low shelf, viewed from a chair across the room. The soft bands of grey and green read as one calm field from that distance. Up close you see the hard edges where each shape ends.
